About Us
Cumnock
The Cumnock office, occupies the two floors above the Clydesdale bank, overlooking the Old Church in the centre of Cumnock. The office, a "B" listed building built around 1884, was the home of the local Clydesdale bank manager through to 1965 at which point it was taken over as an office by Messrs Hunter Faulds, Chartered Accountants. The office became the home of William Duncan & Co during July 2001 on the merger with Messrs Hunter Faulds.
A farmers boy from Sorn in Ayrshire - experienced the bright lights of Glasgow at University and qualified as a Chartered Accountant under the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales whilst based in the less bright lights of Cumbria.
Joined William Duncan & Co in January 1995 and subsequently qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser in January 2000 when he was also introduced as a partner to the firm.
Specialises in providing tax advice to a broad range of business and personal tax clients. Being born and bred on a farm has a particular interest in the agricultural sector (prior knowledge of the terminology and workings a big advantage!). Also covers many other business sectors with client turnover ranging from £ 5,000 to £ 45million.
His approach to business is to keep it as simple and straightforward as possible balanced with minimizing your tax liabilities.
Husband to Lynne and proud father of Jack & Harry. Enjoys all sports (watching more than playing - before anyone else says it) particularly rugby and football (contradiction possibly being a Killie fan!).
Sandy was appointed as a partner with Hunter Faulds & Company in 1974. They merged with William Duncan & Company in 2001. His main work is dealing with the tax and accountancy affairs of farmers and small unincorporated businesses and limited companies. Sandy is based in the Cumnock office of the practice.
